PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT SPONSORED BY JAY-Z AND THE GOOD FOLKS OF A Faithful Fiend

jayzush

Jay Z was a featured guest blogger on rapradar this week and discussed his refreshing musical line up at his latest concert and where he sees the future of music:

A word from Hov

Last night I performed at the University of Arizona, I had a ball!! Through all the excitement and joking around (as well as the technical difficulties) I missed out on the opportunity to say something important..

On the show as well were Third Eye Blind and Kelly Clarkson.. I thought that to be the oddest pairing EVER but, soon realized, it’s what I’ve always professed..There is NO such thing as BLACK music or WHITE music only GOOD or BAD music..It’s stupid cool to like things that are not like you, and that goes for outside of music.. If you’re an African American you can have a jewish friend. Wait, does Lyor having some Israeli mixed with his jewish count? (Sure they are paranoid but, so are black people after they’ve smoked weed, haaaaa, and plus the JEW fro and the BLUEprint fro are the SAME thing.)

I think concerts like this should happen more often. ( Outside of the one or 2 festivals a year or “Zootopia”) I’m putting that into the universe..next up Taylor Swift and Uncle Murda!!

Sorry I don’t “Tweet” (do I?) so this will have to do..

Love.

fresh kid: WILL SMITH AKA THE FRESH PRINCE

fresh-prince-of-bel-air-will-smith
Mr. Smith has always been the style maven that we know and love today. From the street chic casual looks of the ”Fresh Prince” to Hollywood’s box office king of fashion, Will Smith’s pizzazz has evolved from young Philly rapper to high class don. Like a true diamond in the rough, Will has shattered his dull outer shell and let his unique style and ‘threads’ shine through. A style-setter is born.

Will Smith is a fashion icon that is adored and popular for his singing, acting and his fashionable style. He was born in Philadelphia in 1968 to a school administrator mom, and a refrigeration engineer dad. He became a big star on his popular television sitcom ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel Air’. Back then, he was seen wearing neon colors, hats worn backwards, baggy pants, and jackets turned inside out and different other mismatched outfits. He does not know it then, but he would later become one of the most noticed and adored African American celebrities ever to come to Hollywood.

Will Smith really became a big name in the Hollywood world for his killer style and killer looks after the movie ‘Men in Black’. This is because of his tall stature, wide broad shoulders, and his pearly white teeth. It is also because of the fashionable clothes that he expresses, or perhaps the positive fashion influence he gets from his very beautiful wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Jeff Koons “Popeye Series” At Serpentine Gallery

koons-serpentine-gallery-2009
This summer, famous London based Serpentine Gallery welcomes American artist Jeff Koons, who will be showing his “Popeye Series”.

“The Serpentine Gallery presents the first survey of a key series of works by the celebrated American artist Jeff Koons. Working in thematic series since the early 1980s, Koons has explored notions of consumerism, taste, banality, childhood and sexuality. The Popeye Series incorporates ideas that are central to the artist’s work, including surreal combinations of everyday objects, art historical references and children’s toys. The paintings in the Popeye Series combine disparate found images with images of the inflatables and readymades used in the sculptures, while the sculptures themselves continue Koons’s interest in juxtaposing cast aluminium exact replicas of inflatable pool toys with other readymade objects.”

The exhibition runs from July 2nd until September 13th.

Bape Store Sapporo

Once again Bape renovated and re-opened one of their stores in Japan, this time in Sapporo. The new wave of Bape Stores keep the identity that we have known from their store designs, yet they are a little different from previous stores. They use even more glass, much more metal applications and a little less color. Color accents now come more in the form of lights in the stores. Via Nigo’s blog.

ol skool joint: Wu Tang Clan “C.R.E.A.M.”

This is just how Im feeling right now!!! lol

The Clan first became known to hip hop fans, and to major record labels, in 1993 (see 1993 in music) following the release of the independent single “Protect Ya Neck”, which immediately gave the group a sizable underground following. Though there was some difficulty in finding a record label that would sign Wu-Tang Clan while still allowing each member to record solo albums with other labels, Loud/RCA finally agreed, releasing their debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), in late 1993. This album was popular and critically-acclaimed, though it took some time to gain momentum. The success of Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers established the group as a creative and influential force in early 1990s hip hop, allowing Ol’ Dirty Bastard, GZA, RZA, Raekwon, Method Man and Ghostface Killah to negotiate solo contracts.
